Assistant Technical Controller

Our client, a prestigious conglomerate with multiple lines of business, has identified the need to create this new role in response to increasingly technical guidelines related to the complexities of their operations, as well as heightened requirements in the area of corporate governance. The responsibilities of this highly visible, major impact position will include:

 Technical research and consulting to corporate internal audit staffSupport internal auditors on technical accounting mattersResearch and conclude on technical accounting issues based on U.S. GAAP, external accounting pronouncements and company accounting policiesLiaise with corporate accounting team and business controllers to reach conclusion and document for internal audit workpapersConsult with external auditors (KPMG) on technical issues, as necessaryDesign and conduct technical accounting training sessions for internal auditors in the following areas:New external accounting pronouncementsCompany accounting practice and policyThemes and observations from audit findingsOngoing improvement of existing trainingsMonitor open internal audit staff recommendations and action items with the business and current open audit issues in conjunction with the quarterly closingPresent issues with financial exposure to VP, Audit Staff and VP, Corporate Comptroller for concurrence on current quarter treatmentIncrease internal audit staff effectiveness and productivity through initiatives on risk assessment, workpaper documentation and continuous auditing

 

Requirements: The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 8-10 years in public accounting serving on complex and large scale audit engagements or 6-8 years in public accounting followed by 2-4 years in an internal audit/technical role in private industry. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to influence in a collaborative manner, both of which are keys to success in this organization. CPA almost a must, MBA a plus.
