Buyer/Planner

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

College degree preferred.

APICS certification preferred.

An excellent attendance record.

Knowledge of planning/procurement systems.  Ability to learn SAP.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity software, such as Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Self motivated and directed.

Ability to work with other departments, including R&D, Receiving, Quality Assurance, Production, Production Planning and Engineering.

Ability to interface with external suppliers.

Knowledge of Lincoln part numbers and products.

Capable of coordinating purchased items.

Capability to work in a team environment for special projects implementation.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist Senior Buyers with orders and deliveries as it relates to R&D development and chemicals.

Develop and verify purchase orders for quantity, price, due date and supplier per Buyer’s parameters.

Approve signed purchase orders per predetermined dollar limits.

Expedite and de-expedite purchase orders due to changes in demand or count.

Cancel orders not needed in order to control inventory.

Creatively supply manufacturing and maintenance with purchased chemicals, including permission notes for material substitution.

Be responsive and accountable for securing supplier compliance information.

Create and track purchase requirements in support of R&D projects.

Respond to MRP and receiving exception reports.

Aggressively manage past due purchase orders.

Communicate closely with suppliers to improve delivery and service.

Initiate contacts with shop floor regarding supplier quality/delivery issues.

Maintenance of delivery tolerances and individual part planning parameters.

Participate in and initiate cost reduction projects.

Identify inventory adjustments for purchased materials.

Coordinate the ordering process of all Pilot Lot material – parts on “X”.

Work with Senior Buyers in the establishment of Supplier Managed Inventory programs.

Accountability to meet goals for all parts under assigned planner responsibility.
