Buyer/Planning Specialist
Suntron Corporation, an industry leader in electronic manufacturing services, delivering complete manufacturing services and solutions to support the entire life cycle of complex products in the semi-conductor capital equipment, aerospace and defense, medical and industrial markets is currently seeking a Buyer/Planning Specialist III to manage activities related to Planning, Production Scheduling, MRP, Inventory, Purchasing, and shipping and Receiving.
Job Requirements:
· Manage the supply chain and assigned commodities/suppliers to provide the services and materials required to support production requirements, quality, cost, and inventory objectives.
· Support Program Manager and Program Team in support of customer satisfaction requirements by on time delivery of Quality products. Releases production work orders to meet sales requirements and marketing forecasts. Work with production planning on ·what Ifs· for commitments to the MPS load
· Evaluate MRP demand, plan and execute procurement of material to support requirements. Work all material issues as related to customer delivery requirements, as assigned. Reviews orders, shipping needs, plant capacity constraints, and inventory before firming up schedules. Develops schedules establishing sequence and timeframe of manufacturing operations in order to meet production requirements
· Execution of purchase orders to support MRP & basic Purchase Order Management (date/pricing maintenance). Maintain Open Order Reports to ensure on time delivery from supply base and to ensure cancellations, expedites and deferrals are executed properly. Acquire all specific documentation from supplier to meet customer requirements, including Certificates of Compliance, MSDS sheets, UL Listings and First Article Inspections. Obtain proper authorization and sign offs are obtained (see corporate signature authorization chart).
· Evaluate and work shortages with the production planning department on parts that do not meet production requirements and expedite to best dates. Escalate known critical shortages or any other obstacles preventing executions of duties to Purchasing Manager.
· Maintain all MRP purchasing fields pertaining to purchasing as required (i.e., Lead times, Buyer codes, NCNR flag, quote numbers, etc.). Set up item vendor relationships in MRP System. Analyze and support return of excess inventory with materials asset Manager. Mitigation of excess and obsolete inventory. Be knowledgeable of PPV as well as expediting fees over and above Standard within MRP to allow for quarterly pricing reviews.
· Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies and perform the supplier development activities associated with the procurement of assigned commodities considering the best balance of quality, delivery, service and cost.
· Work with LCR and Supply Chain Management team to consolidate and streamline supply base.
· Maintain Planning Policies including lead times, NC/NR status, buyer codes and pricing.
· Review AML (Approved Manufacturers List) and Customer specifications to ensure correct product is procured.
· Generate and evaluate new ideas and opportunities aligned with plant priorities and overall business strategies, including cost, quality, and supply.
· Responsibility to ensure proper and timely supplier compliance with quality objectives, including NCR, SCAR response, and cost recovery efforts. Work with local quality team to ensure local supplier quality issues are resolved in an effective and timely manner.
· Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:The ideal candidate will have: high-level problem solving and deductive reasoning skills; the ability to analyze complex problems and recommend/implement solutions as directed; capacity to prioritize and multi-task; ability to translate business needs into technical specifications; project management proficiency; strong customer service and communication skills; and the capability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team. · BA or BS degree preferred, preferably in business or supply chain. · 5 years direct procurement or equivalent experience strongly desired.· APICS Certification preferred. Six Sigma green belt certification preferred· Proficient at using Microsoft Office programs, (Word, Excel, Microsoft project, PowerPoint, etc.) and other systems tools. · Extensive experience and understanding of MRP/ERP systems and the interrelation and effects of various inputs. · Excellent organizational skills.· Familiar with supply chain concepts, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of manufacturing, manufacturing systems, processes, and equipment.· Ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks.· Team oriented. Ability to work successfully in cross-functional, results oriented team environment across multiple business entities.· Strong analytical and technical abilities.· Ability to adapt to change and meet deadlines · Experience with supplier development, materials management, and project management a plus. A background in contract manufacturing, assembly facilities and Integrated circuits a plus.
