Communications Systems Test Engineer

Job Description:
This position involves testing and performance characterization of UWB physical layer implementations (ASIC and FPGA) in the lab.  Responsibilities include:
• Conducting extensive lab trials, measurements, and characterization of UWB PHY in different environments and configurations.
• Working very closely with communications systems group in analysis and optimization of PHY performance in lab measurements.
• Assisting in developing and maintaining FPGA & silicon platforms for lab characterizations.

Job Requirements:
• Good understanding of communications systems and modems and parameters affecting PHY performance.
• Experience with lab equipments such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, and logic analyzer.
• Ability to work with lab hardware platforms and equipments to conduct measurements.
• Programming skills with C, C++, MATLAB.

Desirable Skills:
• Good understanding of basic RF, baseband, and channel propagation parameters.
• Experience with FPGA & silicon hardware platforms in lab measurements.
• Experience in certification and interoperability of wireless systems.
• Experience with performance characterization (EVM, RX sensitivity, PER, mask, etc) of wireless systems such as WLAN, Bluetooth, Cellular modems.

Education/Experience Requirements:
• BS in Electrical Engineering with +4 years of relevant experience, or MS or PhD graduates in Electrical Engineering with specialization in communications systems.
• Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
