Component Engineer / Experienced with electronics and electro-optical component engineering

DESCRIPTION:


Proactively work supplier issues both at the assembly and component level to ensure that COMPANY products meet required specifications. Review and monitor new product introductions to ensure that the design and the components selected support long-term product manufacturability and reliability. Support business and technical issues.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 

·  B.S. Degree in electrical engineering with 5 years of relevant experience or M.S. Degree in electrical engineering with 3 years of relevant experience

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Work with Contract Manufacturers (CM) and component suppliers to resolve technical issues throughout product life.  Provide on site support when needed.

· Coordinate prompt resolution of component level issues.  Leverage quality and failure analysis support at the CM, and work directly with the component manufacturers where needed.  Issues include end of life notifications, product change notices (PCN), and component level test failures.

· Coordinate component qualifications for new revision parts, replacement parts, and/or new component manufactures. Work with sourcing and design teams to determine and document qualification requirements.  Facilitate required BOM and approved vendor list (AVL) changes.

· Evaluate alternate components to address design, supply chain or quality issues.

· Review assembly level test yield data, and trend analysis.  Facilitate corrective action and design changes (if required).

· Assist with the troubleshooting of assembly test failures to the component level. Review impact of any component PCNs or AVL changes.

· Perform on-site evaluations at the CMs and component manufacturers to evaluate capabilities for start up opportunities and to monitor performance on an on going basis.

· Facilitate technology transfer for outsourcing of product assemblies to CMs. 

· Provide input in determining product specifications by utilizing supplier feedback and industry standards.  Evaluate supplier deliverables according to specifications and quality standards.

· Review new product documentation and design files to ensure accuracy.  Assist with component selection. Facilitate changes needed through configuration management and engineering.

· Train and develop co-workers skills through communication and education.

 

SKILLS:

 

· Experienced with electronics and electro-optical component engineering, and review/analysis of component data sheets.

· Ability to follow complex schematic diagrams for a variety of electronic circuits and components.

· Ability to effectively use industry standard electronic test equipment to take measurements.

· Familiar with relevant design and workmanship standards for quality and reliability.

· Technology transfer experience.
