Controls Engineer Allen Bradley PLC Programming

POSITION DESCRIPTION   Job Title:  Controls EngineerReports to:  Director Engineering and Project ManagementDate Prepared:  March 11, 2008 Description of Overall Accountability:Provide program design and support for control systems. Understand and support vendor supplied control systems and technologies. Trouble shoot problems that occur once  systems are in service.  Assess new technological advancements and improvement processes.  List of Major Responsibilities:1.  Create and modify PLC programs for our systems, both vendor supplied and internally manufactured2.  Develop new and expanded control architectures and strategies to improve system capabilities and enhance customer satisfaction3.  Prepare proposals for  enhancements on systems in the field at Sales’ request or customer orders4.  Support field service personnel in troubleshooting customer controls problems by reviewing designed code, trouble shooting error messages, and resolving and correcting problem for customer.5.  Work with Engineering group and other staff in team design efforts.6.  Communicate project progress and status to supervisor, both in writing and orally 7.  Write controls narratives as required and controls schematics for submission to customers, for inclusion into shop books, and as support for new projects.8.  Maintain current and correct software and program version control. Develop and implement updating services as requested or required.9.  Asses New Technological Advancements and Improvements in Processes Position Authority:1.  Train and assign work to Engineering Interns Position Requirements:1.  Associates electronics/controls (or equivalent) certificate and 5-8 years experience in an industrial controls environment, or Bachelors electrical engineering/computer sciences degree (or equivalent) and 1-3 years experience in an industrial controls environment2.  Knowledge and experience in Alan Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting3.  Knowledge and experience in industrial controls and DCS networking and communications4.  Experience in water sensors technology a plus Critical Success Factors:1.  Create efficient and bug-free programs and implement through controlled and documented deployment and versioning protocols2.  Support systems and customer installations with timely troubleshooting and required updating services3.  Work with personnel to assure maximum utilization and effectiveness of system computer and control systems.  MRINetwork is the largest and most successful search organization in the world.
