Canon is currently reviewing its 401(k) program and all benefit programs.  Join our team of benefits professionals and help ensure our benefit program meets our growing company's needs and the needs of our employees. We're seeking a dynamic, detailed oriented Benefits Specialist for our Corporate Headquarters in Lake Success, Long Island.  This position will participate in all areas of benefits with particular focus on 401(k) plan operations.  Areas of strength should include compliance, analysis of hardship applications, loan delinquencies, and financial reconciliations in addition to monitoring consistent application of plan rules across all US subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will also have experience with administration of Family Medical Leave and Short term disability claims as well as other benefits including health, flexible spending accounts, and life insurance programs.  

Responsibilites include the following:  Administer health and welfare programs including health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance and disability as well as Family Medical leaves. Administer 401k/profit sharing plan.  Interpret rules and resolve problems.  Process loans defaults, Qualified Domestic Relation Orders, hardships, and expatriate distributions.  Process monthly reconciliation reports.  Maintain statistics on participation and utilization. Conduct annual benefit enrollment for active and COBRA participants.  Administer Family Medical leaves (federal and state) and coordinate amongst claims administrator, payroll, field HR, employee's supervisor, and employee.  Collect benefit premiums and manage leave in accordance with company policies. Maintain legal compliance of all plans, including annual tax returns (5500s) and testing. Prepares communication materials to educate employees on benefit plans.  Write and maintain procedure manuals. Analyze the effectiveness of company benefit plans and recommend improvements and changes.

Minimum of 3 years related experience in benefits administration and a Bachelor's degree are required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are a must for this role. In addition, strong analytical and interpretation skills as well as the ability to multitask in a high energy office will be necessary for this position.
