Electrical Component Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: 

With little assistance, manage the selection, life-cycle, and

replacement of electrical components and/or products as assigned. 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

* Approves all new part numbers. 

* Assist in the maintenance of an approved parts catalog to increase reuse of

  existing parts and minimize the creation of new part numbers into the

  system.   

* Assist in establishing design criteria to meet customer requirements.

* Manage the design and purchasing life cycle of electronic components.

* Assist in conducting vendor audits and qualifications. 

* Assist in the design of products to meet design specification (-680) or per

  sales design data or per individual customer specification.

* Study, research, and recommend replacement electrical components based on original design specifications.

* Supervise other engineers and technicians assigned to a particular job or

  project. 

* Evaluate design concepts through a theoretical analysis, a breadboard, and 

  a prototype, having design reviews as necessary. 

* Record design and test data. 

* Release to appropriate Engineering section when design has been confirmed, 

  with approved schematics and stress information. 

* Use standard parts when possible and supply stress information on all

  components in design.

* Verify correctness of final schematics, printed circuit boards, and bill of

  material.

* Estimate material and engineering effort required on jobs being quoted.

* Keep current engineering estimate sheets and work schedules. 

* Generate quotes in response to sales/marketing inputs.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 * BSEE or equivalent degree.

 * Five years electrical design experience. 

 * Previous exposure to Component Engineering principles and practice. 

 * Travel as required for training, support of project tasks, product issues,

or other design or job related needs. 

* Performs other duties as assigned.
