Our client is a well established appliance manufacturer located Northwest of Milwaukee. They need an Electronics Project Engineer who will focus on product development. You will manage the design and development, or redesign and cost reduction, of assigned electronics programs through application of applicable Engineering principles and practices. This responsibility includes acting as leader of an organized cross-functional project team.
Requirements:
1. BS in Electronic Engineering. An advanced degree in a technical discipline is also desired. A registration as a Professional Engineer is also desired. 4+ years of consumer electronic product development experience.
2. The ideal candidate would have experience with “built in” residential systems involving communications (intercom/telephones), music distribution (both analog/digital), video distribution or RF. Other relevant experience would be consumer electronic products such as TV's, Radio's, DVD players, MP3 players, set top boxes (cable, satellite, over-the-air), home control, etc)
3. Knowledge of the operation of spectrum and signal analyzers, signal generators, distortion analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, electrostatic test equipment and RFI test equipment is required
4. Extensive experience in RF, analog, discrete digital and microprocessor design
5. Desired experience in at some of the following Engineering functions:
Multi-site Product Development Programs, OEM Product Development, Product Cost Reduction, Domestic and International Standards Compliance UL, cUL, FCC and IC requirements for residential electronic products and ISO9000 or QS9000
6. Knowledge and experience working with Asian suppliers
7. The job requires working closely with others in a team environment
8. The position requires 20% travel in Asia
Duties:
1. Research, select, develop and define the materials, methods and processes used in developing breakthrough electronics products and processes that have the lowest product costs for value delivered, as compared to the global market
2. Perform product design and development including conceptual modeling, engineering calculations and verification testing
3. Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans with Marketing, Sales and Operations
4. Determine project responsibilities by identifying required project phases and elements and by assigning team members to required phase and element tasks
5. Determine project specifications by studying customer requirements and performance standards and completing technical studies and cost estimates
6. Prepares engineering specifications for new electronic products, and recommends and approves essential design alterations during all stages of product development
7. Travels domestically and to Asia to meet vendors to review specifications, perform testing and evaluation of products during all phases of product development process
8. Confirm product performance by designing and conducting test
9. Control project cost by approving expenditures associated with project
