Arcata Associates, Inc. is an engineering services and information technology company supporting NASA and the DoD. We currently have the following opening on our Research Facilities and Engineering Support Services Contract at the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

Electronics Technician IIIII


Essential Functions:

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and repair on all hardware used for range tracking and mobile systems located in the Western Aeronautical Tracking Facility (WATR) at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center.

Perform troubleshooting on systems by using calibrated test equipment, analyze sources of failures, remove and replace failed components.

Assist with troubleshooting, usually under the direction of a higher-level technician; Fabricate, assemble and integrate components, systems and test devices in accordance with the configuration control requests; Maintain equipment history logs to track maintenance activities; Ability to comprehend new concepts and follow directions

In addition to the above duties provide technical guidance and training to lower level technicians; Troubleshoot to component level using digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, power meters and other relevant test equipment; Perform periodic maintenance procedures; Perform mission preflight configuration and checkout; Successfully support tracking and combined system test operations in a professional manner.

Perform general housekeeping of the work area; Create block diagram level drawings using Visio; Assist in all areas of site support; Perform other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

In-depth knowledge of: Electronic principles and troubleshooting techniques utilizing various test equipment for fault isolation and diagnosis of problems; Knowledge of radar and telemetry principles and an understanding of computer hardware and software.

Successful completion of the NASA soldering course will be required; Ability to obtain a secret clearance.Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form; Apply the principles of logic/scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; Establish and maintain successful work relationships with those contacted in the performance of this position; Interact effectively with system users; Analyze data, resolve problems and make decisions independently; Work in a team environment; Adhere to deadlines; Perform work in an ISO compliant/certified environment.

Education and Additional Requirements:

Electronics Technician II:
Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or a closely related field or completion of formal training in an accredited commercial or military electronics school. At least three years of related experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Electronics Technician III:
Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or a closely related field or completion of formal training in an accredited commercial or military electronics school. At least five years of related experience, including one year of lead technician experience preferred; Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands:

Ability to digest information and make logical decisions, Work well under pressure during stressful mission environment; Ability to retain information on a day to day basis; Required to lift 25 pounds minimum; Ability to climb ladders and stairs; Work location is remote resulting in contact with various wildlife, insects and rodents; The ability to work flexible hours and overtime is required; Periodic travel may be required based on project and mission requirements.
