Embedded Software / Firmware Design Engineer

 

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software / Firmware Design Engineer in our Allentown, PA office, to work on Satellite Radio Receiver Systems. This individual will also be expected to lead software architecture definitions of our existing and next generation SoCs.

 

ResponsibilitiesResponsible for software architecture design and implementation including: software system requirements generation derived from customer and marketing inputsarchitectural synthesis from requirementsengineering trade-off (MIPS/memory/speed) analysis/simulationderivation and allocation of requirements into software requirements and specificationsinputs into systems testreview of test resultstechnical oversight for the development of hardware and softwarerequirements management including identification, analysis, resolution of open issues, and requirements tracingParticipate in ASIC validation and test effortsPrepare, review, and distribute documents within the area of responsibility, including: status of systems tasks, results of tradeoff studies, justification of system design decisions and performance allocations, and dissemination of accumulated knowledge to colleaguesEvaluate Software-Defined Radio (SDR) architectures within the company, and apply this architecture to Satellite Radio Receiver Systems

RequirementsEmbedded Software / Firmware Design Engineer MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.At least 5 years of experience in architecting, implementing, and debugging embedded software applications on real-time operating systems with complex Systems-on-a-ChipKnowledge of ARM processor programming, low-level hardware driver design/development, and hardware level debuggingExperience with C/C++ programming, familiarity with software development tools, i.e. C/C++ compilers, emulators, debuggers, and source code control/management toolsFamiliarity with different processor architectures (such as VLIW – very long instruction word, Tensilica) is a plusDemonstrated experience in the use of Lab Equipment (Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope)Understanding of various Wireless Communication ProtocolsStrong communication and problem solving skillsAbility to work in cross-functional and international teams
