Engineer - Analytical Sciences

 

Responsibilities:  Will be a key contributor to understanding process effects on diverse materials and components used in high volume electronics products. Will work with a team of quality, packaging, manufacturing, mechanical, and electrical engineers to identify and understand product reliability issues, material and component failure mechanisms.. Will establish and maintain a laboratory database and mentor other engineers and technicians on proper use of analytical tools, interpretation of data, and data integrity.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Requires a B.S./M.S. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent and a strong background in analytical and sample preparation techniques (SEM/EDXRFS, FTIR, TGA, DSC, optical microscopy, acoustic microscopy, surface analysis, decapsulation of plastic encapsulated semiconductors), laboratory safety, and documentation.

 

B.S. or M.S. with 3 - 5 years experience in failure analysis and reliability of electronic components and devices including solder joints, PWB's, semiconductor packaging, encapsulants, adhesives, and plating systems. 

 

Knowledge of basic electronics troubleshooting and competency in electronics failure analysis and materials testing a plus.

 

Working knowledge/experience in the application of Gage R&R Studies, Six Sigma,  problem solving tools especially design of experiments, and failure mode and effect analysis a plus.
