Engineer, Principal Field Applications / 07-08260

Position Description:Work with a team of system, hardware, and software engineers to develop and support leading edge set top box technologies for our customers. Systems include cable, satellite, IP, or combination front-ends, MPEG2/AVC decode and display back ends, and numerous additional technologies including 2D/3D graphics, PVR, DOCSIS, VoIP, and home-networking technologies such as MoCA, HPNA3, Ethernet, WLAN and Bluetooth. Facilitate, coordinate, and participate in design reviews of customer’s products. Support our customers by helping to resolve system issues during prototype bring-up and accelerate getting their platforms into production. Ability to understand and resolve customer issues in a timely manner. Ability to communicate clearly with our customers both verbally and in writing, in person and remotely. Ability to track and coordinate multiple customer issues at the same time, across multiple programs. Meeting: Follow-up on Action Items and provide feedback to customersCommunication: - both verbally and in writing, in person and via e-mail/phoneTechnical: Very proficient in all aspect of STB systems Tools: Issue tracking tools, ClearCaseQualifications:BSEE (MS a +) with at least 8 years of related experience. Working knowledge of MPEG2 (Transport and Stream Layer) and Video Display Formats.Working knowledge of embedded MIPS processor systems and high-speed DDR memory systems.Working knowledge of H.264, PVR, DOCSIS, IP Streaming, home networking technologies, VoIP, cable/satellite silicon tuners, QAM demodulators, is a plus.
