Position Description:Broadcom provides industry-leading A-GPS technology to the mobile wireless industry. Our semiconductor solutions bring IndoorGPS® technology to the full spectrum of mobile wireless devices, including handsets, smartphones, PDAs and other wireless devices. Our A-GPS network infrastructure products and data services power the global location services of our mobile operator customers. We are searching for a talented Network Operations Engineer.Specific responsiblities include; This position requires working closely with technical staff and customers to provide critical Network Operations support for GPS and other Location Based Services production and developer infrastructures. Responsibilities include building/maintaining networks, and providing system support working on Solaris and Linux systems. The applicant must provide a high level of programming skill including scripting for automated system processes and application/web programming. Additionally, the candidate’s responsibilities will include configuration of hardware, OS software and applications. Strong analytical, written, and spoken communications skills are required.Qualifications:* Minimum 5+ yrs experience in Network Operations, delivering commercially successful contract data services. * Experience in location and/or telecommunications industries preferred * Strong knowledge of at least 1 scripting language (PERL preferred) and internet protocols including TCP/IP, UDP * Strong UNIX skills in Solaris and Linux, including configuration and maintenance of both systems * Network skills including Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and VPN Concentrators * Experience in Linux, Solaris, W2K, Windows 2003, XP, Veritas, and NAS,DAS,SAN * Experience with monitoring tools (HP Openview, Nagios, general SNMP experience ) * Knowledge of as many as possible of the following DB and web environments : MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server 2003, Oracle DB, IIS, Apache, Windows Active Directory. * Strong understanding of operational best practices to support a large IT environment. * On-call duties, which include 24x7 support on 1 wk on, 2 wks off rotation. * BE degree in Computer Science or related engineering disciplines.
