Understand product and business requirements; ensure that product-engineering department meets these requirements. Ensure that quality products are released within cost and schedule guidelines. Ensure that the engineering staff maintains and enhances their technical expertise. Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for the leading, planning and directing the team to Conceptualize, Architect, and Design innovative cutting-edge Hardware and Embedded Software products. Responsible for the generation of the highest level of system requirements, based on the marketing requirements, user's needs and other constraints such as cost and schedule. Oversee the group to ensure that this set of high level requirements is consistent, complete, accurate, and operationally defined. Lead efforts to generate a set of acceptance test requirements, together with the designers, test engineers, and the user, which determine that all of the high level requirements have been met. Interface with the user(s) and sponsor(s) and all other stakeholders in order to determine their (evolving) needs. Collaborate cross-functionally with other Engineering Managers to refine project objectives, costs and schedules and to ensure alignment and improve productivity across the company. Responsible for recruiting and career development of engineering staff Schedule and assign projects to appropriate personnel May assume a position in a technical role within the department Work closely with product management to determine direction of product lines Research work for upcoming projects Maintain advanced understanding of relevant technology & specifications Prepare reports on engineering programs, productivity and initiatives Work with Director of R&D to create guidelines and procedures to be used within the department Monitor overall operation of engineering department for timely, accurate and completeness and quality of results, and provide support and/or disciplinary action as required Coordinate 3rd party development as required Provide input on anticipated budget requirements for personnel and equipment allocations Determine department equipment and training needs Maintain department schedules and budget objectives Create and maintain status reports Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor of Science Computer or Electrical Engineering, or other related fields or equivalent work experience 7+ years of Engineering experience with emphasis on Systems Architecture 5+ years of management/leadership experience required Strong background in high volume consumer and / or computer product development preferredBelkin is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.4-6 years of related work experience,BA/BS in Engineering,Consumer electronics industry exp pref,Management & Training experience pref,MS Project - Intermediate,Networking & computer hardware exp,Project Management experience required,Supervisory experience
