Role Provide leadership and technical guidance to systems engineering and controls design teams.  Lead development of complex control systems for powertrain and chassis.

Openings Engineering Manager/ Team Leader

Key Duties 

Performance Management, Leadership & Mentoring

-  Create performance appraisals and conduct reviews

-  Participate in resource allocation and hiring process

-  Establish career development plans and training needs

-  Mentor junior engineers, review technical work and provide technical direction to the engineering team

-  Support project leaders in planning and executing design work

Technical Assignments

-  Assess clients’ needs and translate these needs into system level requirements related to electronic hardware and embedded controls. Formulate electronic controls solutions for mechanical systems.

-  Support control system architecture definition

-  Lead the creation and development of complex control system solutions on a variety of powertrain and chassis systems

-  Support testing, calibration, and validation on customer sites and on development trips

-  Support system DFMEA, hazard analysis and technical design reviews

Business Development and Operations Support

-  Work closely with customers to understand current and future needs, develop concepts and propose technical solutions

-  Write proposals and define systems requirements

-  Create proposal cost estimates

-  Work closely with Project Managers to manage resources, plan and execute project tasks to meet objectives

-  Support new product development strategy and roadmap definition

Required Skills 

2-5 years of experience in engineering leadership role

5 years of experience defining sub-systems requirements, defining electrical interfaces including control modules, sensors and actuators

2-5 years of previous hands-on experience in system-level electronics integration, validation, proving-out systems diagnostics, calibration and hardware/software/electrical problem solving

2-5 years of designing and developing electronic control modules for powertrain or chassis systems.  Experience with control modules for safety restraints, body or power management may be considered  

Strong understanding of APQP (or other Product Development process) and working knowledge of a full product development cycle from concept/planning stage to production

Working knowledge of embedded software implementations

Exposure to industry standards, emissions legislation and FMVSS

Complimentary Skills 

Working knowledge of controls development using Matlab/Simulink is a plus

Experience in defining and developing diesel and hybrid systems control algorithms including aftertreatment is a plus

Experience in Real-Time software design, systems development in safety critical applications is a plus

Previous calibration experience is a plus

Personal 

Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.  Masters preferred.

Self-motivated, well organised individual with a "can do" attitude

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  Hands-on attitude
