Export Compliance Manager

MKS is seeking an Export Compliance Manager. Reporting into operations, this role will have complete responsibility for developing and implementing an Export compliance infrastructure to support the corporate goals of delivering best-in-class solutions to its customers worldwide. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating trade requirements into business processes to maximize outcomes, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory bodies where the company conducts business. This is a visible role in growing and publicly traded organization.
Specific areas of responsibilities will include:
· Provide accurate interpretation of export regulation. Conduct training and implementation of policies and procedures.
· Serve as the company empowered official and primary point of contact with government agencies on compliance issues.
· Oversee and administer the licensing process to ensure authorizations are obtained from the U.S. government in a fully compliant manner.
· Prepare materials and proactively conduct training on regulatory compliance with all relevant departments.
· Manage and execute duty minimization strategies and cost avoidance initiatives including first sale, tariff engineering, duty drawback and participation in eligible preferential trade programs.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
· Exercise independent judgment in determining procedural weaknesses and develop new procedures to maintain compliance.
· Interpret technical procedures, jurisdictional application of governmental regulations and work collaboratively with information technology teams to deliver solutions.
· Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals using data and information metrics to drive performance improvement.
· Persuade, influence, negotiate, and make formal presentations in meetings, training environments and respond to questions from management, employees, customers and vendors.
Qualifications:
· B.S. or B.A in international business, law, finance or related areas of responsibility.
· 5 years of experience in the import/export controls arena for a global organization.
· Strong project management, leadership and commitment to integrity and professionalism.
· Authority on administration of trade regulations, classifications, valuation, country or origin, duty preference programs, licensing requirements, denied party and country restrictions.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to relate and communicate with employees at all levels of the company.
· Domestic and international travel.
