Firmware Architect

JOB SUMMARY:

The major challenge of this role is to technically lead the CPD development team along with coordinating technical issues between Global Business Services’ architects. The role requires the abilities to represent Xyratex with customers, work with them on their issues and then work out how to best solve these problems. The candidate needs to be customer focused and able to work many priority issues concurrently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bid process & engineering response

· Support commitment for bid process resource

· Coordinate the effort of responding to Product Development portion of bid responses.

· Customer interaction as appropriate

· Ensure that commitments are understood and approved at appropriate levels

· Deliverables include SOW, portions or whole Functional Specs. Technical Descriptions, etc.

Integrated with product development effort

· Review and assist on CR resolution

· Support FAE team on technical issues

· Participate in weekly and monthly status reviews

· Participate in architects forum of code enhancement and coordination

· Coordinate actions as required by Program Manager

· Coordinate with customers as required to support sales efforts

Lead performance analysis and comparison

· Lead per release benchmarking

· Lead customer related issue escalation – champion customer

· Isolate and discuss issues in Architect’s Forum

· Provide guidance on implications and priorities of development

Lead competitive analysis

· Lead hands on efforts to understand our competitive features/functions/performance

· Publish/distribute knowledge via central website

· IP – secure any ideas generated and contribute to reviews and
encouragement

 

QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; five to seven years' related experience and/or training; and or equilavent combination of technical education and experienceExcellent written and verbal communicationExcellent abilities in using Microsoft project and Microsoft OfficeFive or more years of management experience, preferably in the Storage IndustryComprehensive understanding of storage hardware concepts (e.g. backup, file systems, volume managers, replication, etc.) Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, and engineering specificationsAbility to respond to technical inquiries from co-workers, customers, and vendors in a clear, accurate, and professional mannerAbility to work with mathematical concepts (e.g. probability and statistical inference, dimensions, and tolerances.)Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and develop, prove, and document the conclusions and /or solutions
