Forensic Engineer / Electrical / Mechanical / BSEE / BSME

Growing Chicago area engineering consulting firm seeks experienced engineer with BSEE or BSME and five or more years of diversified work experience with knowledge of multiple disciplines (an associates degree alone is not qualified). Engineers with problem solving experience and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical product issues will find this opportunity to be challenging and rewarding.

This exciting opportunity as a Technical Loss Consultant provides engineering and consulting services to clients in the resolution of technical related insurance claims. Duties include conducting site inspections, investigating, researching solutions, and documenting results in a report to the client. We are searching for an engineer with technical proficiencies, an inquisitive mind and the desire to solve puzzles. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.

Typical engineering challenges include analysis of loss or damage to equipment or facilities systems following catastrophic damage such as fire, weather or flood. With exposure to high-profile losses and natural disasters, this position requires excellent problem solving skills, good oral communication skills for client interaction, strong written communication skills for professional analysis and data presentation, with minimal overnight travel. You will use the Internet for research to evaluate losses for repair-replacement determination. Areas of involvement can include examination and analysis of losses to medical/dental equipment, HVAC systems, electro-mechanical machinery, fire alarm systems, transformers, building electrical and much more.
