Global Commodity Manager

Responsible for leading global commodity teams in defining and developing global sourcing strategies for Juniper Networks.  They will require strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, along with overall industry knowledge.  They need to be experienced and efficient in global Communication, interpersonal and team skills, conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making, global vision & planning, and presentation skills.  . The successful candidate will work both tactical and strategic issues/opportunities concurrently, while effectively working at all levels of the Manufacturing and Corporate organizations.

This position will require the following abilities:

 

Technology Management:Define key internal technology characteristics/roadmap for global requirements Capture supplier roadmaps for existing industry suppliers. Align suppliers and Juniper technology roadmaps Understand market trends and future direction.  Rate suppliers by key technology characteristic and future fit.  Continue to monitor on-going.

Supplier ManagementAnalyze spend by technology, part type, supplier, business unit, etc. Set supplier selection criteria.  Rationalize supply base and develop targeted preferred supplier list. Manage preferred suppliers against agreed upon target mix.  Actively refine target supplier list based on changes in the market or internal requirements. Set up the commodity team as the key focal point for decision making and relationship with supplier.  Manage to the Juniper global supplier performance process. Develop and Implement improvement programs resulting in the continuous  improvement of the supply chain through Cost Reduction, Quality Improvement and Lead Time reduction Understand supplier upside flexibility and how it meets internal needs.  Execute master purchase agreements with all strategic suppliers. Determine supplier risk areas (business, technology, quality, finance etc.). Develop disaster recover plans for suppliers. In depth understanding of commodity leading industry indicators (Market intelligence). Risk management, dual sourcing etc.

Cost ManagementUnderstand current pricing. Coordinated negotiations - negotiating based on aggregate volumes to meet or beat market pricing Define cost drivers for reduction roadmap and track.  Define cost structure of key technologies and develop cost model

 

Requirements

1. Undergraduate and or graduate degree

2. 5+ years global commodity management experience in a High Technology Mfg. environment

3. Demonstrated experience with outsourced Mfg. model

4. Demonstrated experience with Lean /Pull-based Mfg. model

5. Demonstrated ability to drive and close cross-functional project initiatives

6. Travel 25-30%

7. Specific experience in working with Power Devices (Custom power/DC Converters) and suppliers of Power devices is preferred.
