Headquartered in Secaucus, NJ, Panasonic Corporation of North America is the principal North American subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. of Osaka, Japan.Currently, the Panasonic Communications Company of North America (PCCNA) is seeking to hire a full time Group Manager, Technical Support based out of our North American Headquarters in Secaucus, NJ.BASIC FUNCTION:Manage staff responsible for Engineering and Technical Support of products; including Field Service Network Solutions, Engineering, Tech Hotline, and Inside Sales and Service. ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Manage and direct departmental activities.a. Assign, coordinate and review work of engineering subordinates to localize new products, modify existing designs, improve process techniques as well as support existing products.b. Direct activities related to Engineering organizational and operational needs that support business initiatives.c. Mentors and directs subordinates to ensure long-term effectiveness and growth. Acts as an agent of positive change to encourage technical and process leadership. d. Manage and coordinate reworks and inspections of new product and existing product improvements to maintain optimum product quality.e. Support industry trade shows, and launch events as necessaryf. Coordinate product evaluations, including new product introduction, product beta tests and field surveys as necessary to ensure optimum product quality.2. Interface with field technicians, sales engineers, dealers, other field support personnel, sales, marketing, factory, technical hotline, training department, call center staff and end-users to investigate quality problems.a. Monitor activities of field personnel reports to pro-actively maintain quality assurance of products b. Assist Kent/NPC to expedite parts from factories to meet customers needs.c. Oversee service systems and databases to measure and track all parameters of each model to accurately report on product quality to factory and management using SAP, Vision and other tools.3. Manages or supports all relevant departments through the life of a -project by keeping all parties informed, and by gathering feedback from all parties.4. Manage relationship with technical service centera. Coordinate 2nd inventory, returns and return to 1st inventoryb. Manage warranty itemsc. Coordinate disposals of irreparable and/or damaged equipment.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:1. Scope a. Reports to: President of PCCNAb. Staff: Product Engineers, Field Service, Tech Hotline, Network Solutions. Approximately 21 staff members2. Education and Experiencea. A Bachelor?s degree in Business, Engineering or Computer Science and equivalent work experience of at least 7 years including some in an electronics or related manufacturing environment is required.b. Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.c. Technical and functional experience with business information systems including project planning and deployment are mandatory.d. Experience in managing multiple people to time and cost deadlines, creating and managing to project plans, dealing with issues of scope and budget, and presenting and resolving issues with management.3. Key Competenciesa. Accomplished negotiating and persuasion skills.b. The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with management, staff, factory and vendors in a multi-cultural environmentc.
