Shift: 1st or 2nd Shift Manufacturing + 1 weekend day (5 day scheduled work week – Su-Th or Tu-Sa)
PURPOSE:
· Provide capabilities and services in the design, development and execution of custom integrated hardware/software applications within Cree’s Solid State Lighting products and processes.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide integrated hardware/software/procedural systems for measurement of photometric, spectrometric, colorimetric, electrical, thermal and other physical properties to the SSL business unit.
· Write code to control a diverse set of instruments such as probers, oscilloscopes, source meters, spectrometers, robots, mass flow controllers, and power supplies.
· Design and development of system applications with intuitive user interfaces that perform according to specifications using VB.Net, C#, SQL Server, MS Access, etc.
· Manage multiple projects at one time across multiple departments and several customers.
· Provide support or manage activities whether relevant systems are internally implemented, outsourced or some combination thereof.
· Conceptualize, develop, monitor, adjust and implement projects, taking into consideration numerous and changing priorities, and or resources to achieve project goals.
· Ability to diagnose technical problems such as delays, malfunctions and errors in order to determine the true cause of the problem and provide a workable/reasonable/optimal solution in a reasonable timeframe.
· Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools.
· Perform other miscellaneous duties as required or requested from time to time.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Software Engineering or related subject.
· 2+ years of applicable experience including test and measurement, high volume process monitoring systems, inspection systems, and LED component or module production.
· Candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).
· Experience with data charting and tabulations.
· Knowledge of database administration (design, installation, and troubleshooting) of MS SQL Server 2000 & 2005, MySQL, MS Access, etc.
· Strong mathematical and problem solving skills.
· GPIB, RS-232, TCP/IP, DAQ and other interface/communication experience.
· Extensive PC and software user skills as well as PC based programming skills using high level languages and environments such as C++, Visual Basic, Visual Studio 6.0, Visual Studio .NET, Matlab,JMP, MS Excel, MS Word, and MSAccess.
· Ability to focus on real, practical solutions with maximum benefit, even when the methods include relatively mundane tasks.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
· Reports to the Process Development Engineering Manager.
· May supervise technicians and other engineers.

· Primary external interaction is with equipment manufacturers and material suppliers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able and willing on occasion to fabricate components, assemble systems, prepare experimental samples and fixtures, etc. and operate basic hand tools, shop tools and lab equipment.APPLY NOW
