Key Supplier Account Manager (KSAM) - International Transportation

We are seeking new associates that are motivated to contribute their talents to making cost effective solar energy an important part of the world’s energy mix.  . Basic Job Functions  · Manage the business and commercial relationship between one or more key suppliers of logistics services   Transportation, Forwarders, Ocean Carriers and Air Carriers and First Solar.· Develop and implement a strategy to support First Solar’s five year growth plan with the supplier(s) taking into account planned production growth as well as sales and marketing strategies.· Propose and negotiate long term supply agreements and annual price agreements to assure supply of the commodity at competitive costs.· Communicate plans and requirements to, and negotiate support from, First Solar organizations to manage the use of the commodity and address critical supplier issues..Experience· 5 plus years experience in an international position managing the supply or purchasing of the commodity or related products.· Additional experience in Customer Support, Production or Plant Operations or Supply Chain is an advantage.· Ocean transportation and air freight transportation experience a plus· Previous start up experience a plus Education· Four year college degree in Business or related fields or equivalent.· Advanced degree is an advantage.Required Skills:· Proven organizational skills – ability to prioritize.· Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Office or equivalent.· Demonstrated experience in planning management.· Demonstrated experience in negotiating with internal and external organizations· Knowledge of commodity operations in an international manufacturing environment..Essential Functions & Responsibilities· Working with Planning and Operations, determine requirements for commodity based on planned growth and expansion for five years. · Support the development and update of a world-wide Material Action Plan (MAP) which establishes the sourcing strategy for commodity and identifies tactics to support First Solar’s planned growth.· Negotiate supply agreements with key commodity supplier(s) that assure supply of the commodity at competitive costs.· Communicate tactics and pricing to First Solar Supply Chain and provide support to address any commodity related issue.· Working with assigned suppliers, optimize commodity delivery and logistics routes to manufacturing facilities, to assure timely delivery at lowest overall delivered cost.· Provide similar support as required to other First Solar businesses.· Maintain effective internal communications levels and foster team building.· Develop and maintain excellent relationships with assigned key suppliers worldwide. · Rely on experience and judgment with minimal direct supervision to plan and accomplish goals.· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.· Assure adherence to all First Solar processes and procedures, including ISO9000, ISO14000, safety, housekeeping, etc.· May travel, including internationally, to support operations..Accountabilities· First Solar production requirements for commodity are met and logistics issues are avoided at a competitive cost.· A long term strategy is in place to assure commodity logistics services do not become a constraint to First Solar’s growth (MAP).· Failure to perform responsibilities will have an impact on First Solar’s customer satisfaction, and, ultimately, financial performance. See Job Description.
