Laser Technician

A Carlsbad company is looking for a Laser Technician. This individual will perform a variety of technical functions related to the calibration, alignment, fabrication, assembly, and modification of laser assemblies and optics in accordance with established practices, procedures, and product/process documentation.

Additional responsibilities will include:Assembling and assigning laser and/or subassemblies; performing unit adjustment, alignment, and calibration; performing opto-mechanical assembly according to work instructions.Performing operational tests on systems to ensure conformance with product specifications.Testing products utilizing complex and/or specialized test set-ups and equipment.Reading and understanding blueprints, test procedures, and test equipment manuals.Applying knowledge to the analysis of test processes and unit failures.Determining and reporting on root cause of unit failures.Performing other duties as assigned.Qualified Candidates will have the following education, experience, and skills:One year certificate from a college or technical school; or two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Solid understanding of fundamental laser principles; knowledge of laser specific terminology and physics terms; and knowledge and familiarity of optics and optical components.Knowledge and familiarity with electronic components and their functions.Skilled electro-optical test set ups and the ability to characterize a laser.The ability to use laser controllers, power meter, oscilloscope, spectrometer, and assembly hand tools.Good mechanical aptitude and effective troubleshooting skills.Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and work center specific software.Good verbal and written communication skills.Length of Assignment: Indefinite
