MANAGER OF PLASTICS ENGINEERING (Req #903M)
Responsibilities
Manages the Plastic Engineering Department and the Custom Molding Business Unit by providing leadership and support. Responsible for providing tactical and strategic support to manufacturing, by providing technical solutions that includes but not limited to tooling, equipment, maintenance and repair, process definition, process improvements, and new technology. Manage the Custom Molding Business Unit’s Programs to reach maximum potential. Seeks new prospective business, quotes new programs, oversees the launch of new programs, and sustains the programs while insuring profitability and growing the revenue streams.
· Meets the demands of the market, as it applies to Plastics, insure responsiveness to the customers with innovative, cost-competitive tooling and product.
· Manages the interfaces between the customer, program management, engineering, tooling, manufacturing, and quality to insure mold designs that will produce a quality part in an efficient and cost effective manner.
· Manages the investigation and the determination of the materials and the capital equipment required for new customer quotes and subsequent NPIs/Production.
· Oversees the coordination, schedules, documents, insures the evaluation of all new molds.
· Oversees the identification, resolution and corrective action of tooling, equipment, and material problems.
· Determines the technology road map for the company’s worldwide molding operations.
· Insures that capacity plans are accurately and efficiently translated into equipment and resource requirements for current and future business requirements.
· Manages the NPI process and customer transfer of product/programs.
· Forms and manages cross-functional teams and drives the team to successful product launch.
· Manages the RFQ process for Mold Tolling and Injection Molded product.
· Must apply and perform complex financial analysis such as incremental margin, fixed/variable costing, absorption, departmental rate determination and financial performance of programs.
· Generate and maintain product, revenue and market place forests that will generate financial and factory plans. Responsible for projecting, monitoring, and insuring the obtaining of the revenue plans.
Qualifications
· Bachelor degree in Engineering or related technical field.
· At least seven years of progressive experience in the Mold tooling and/or injection molding.
· At least two years experience supervising or managing a professional staff.
· Knowledge of cost accounting, materials procurement, and proficiency in managing time lines.
· Experience managing projects utilizing cross functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
· Two years of project/program management experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience in Contract Manufacturing and EMS industry desired with an emphasis in supporting an offshore manufacturing facility.
