Highly motivated and energetic person skilled in developing hardware and software for PC-based and embedded control systems. The Machine Control Engineer is responsible for control design activities relating to the development of industrial laser systems. He or she will work under the direction of the Controls Engineering Manager.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Machine control design, analysis, and testing for high-performance laser materials processing equipment. Development activities may include: Integrating industrial electrical components
o I/O systems (Wago)
o Motion controllers (Aerotech, Baldor)
o Machine vision (Cognex) Embedded software and firmware
o Ability to integrate circuit board level hardware
o Low level C/C++ programming and debugging Microsoft Visual Studio C++/C#/.NET
o Low level interface and control
o Application development
o Networking and communication protocols Altera Programmable Logic Devices
o Interfacing and programming Geometric and other mathematical algorithms Interface to computer-aided design programs and software development kits
o AutoCAD and Adobe Illustrator applications
Key Qualifications: Bachelor/Master of Science in Electrical/Mechanical/Software Engineering or equivalent.Machine control experience of 4 to 10 years. Strong mathematical background including linear algebra. Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C++/C#/.NET software development programs. Experience with embedded microcontrollers, programmable logic devices, and software development. Practical knowledge of electrical/electronic components and diagnostic equipment.
