Currently, the Panasonic Computer Solutions Company (PCSC), maker of Toughbook laptop computers, is seeking an Business Development Manager for their Washington D.C. metro area. The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a sales and marketing strategy designed to penetrate their specific vertical market assignment. This position supports the nationwide vertical sales team efforts and reports directly to the Executive Business Development Manager.1. Vertical message: Work with Management to develop vertical message. Determine the best utilization of resources to support that message?Rainmaker, Toughbook Vendor Partners, PCSC marketing group and PCSC Public Relations. 2. Shows. Manage and develop all aspects of show and marketing services (ie, show contracts, demos, collateral, advertising/show promotion, and funding/invoicing).3. Advertising. Determine best use of MDF and other funds to support vertical message. Contact trade publications to determine best issue placement. Work with HQ marketing and creative team to develop Panasonic ads to support the Vertical Message.4. Public Relations. Work with PR Manager to ensure that all new products/pricing announcements get into vertical trade publications on a timely basis. Act as interface with selected customers for "PR" stories and ensure that vertical message gets in the right publications.5. Vendor/Partner Relations. Identify vendor partners: 1) at the channel level for marketing solutions to customers; and 2) integrator/developers business level for new business development.6. Sales/Channel Partner activities. Develop yearly channel marketing plan ensuring the activities support the vertical sales strategy and support the vertical message.7. Market research. Collect, analyze and disseminate data that identifies the vertical customers including product trends, competitive information, pricing, etc., as required by the NSM.8. MDF. Audit and manage Region MDF?work closely with ASMs in planning specific use of FY MDF budget (ie, show procurement, giveaways, customer satisfaction, etc.). Communicate expenditures with PCSC HQ marketing administration for budget tracking and compliance.9. Education. As the Subject Matter Expert in their respective vertical, the BDM will be responsible for educating the PCSC sales force and its channel partners on how to best sell in to this market.MANAGEMENT: The individual will not have any direct reports but will support and be the expert advisor in their specific vertical for the markets sales team. PROBLEM-SOLVING/KNOW HOWThe BDM will focus his/her efforts on the following vertical markets: (Federal Government). He/She should understand (has worked in one of) these verticals. It would also be very helpful if they had experience selling INTO at least one of these verticals. For instance, a person who worked for American Airlines and then spent 4-5 years selling solutions into the airline industry for a hardware of software company.A BA/BS in marketing or business administration or equivalent experience is required.COMMUNICATIONS: This person will be the spokesperson for PCSC within the vertical market by helping to develop our presence in the market.
