Network Engineer Manager
A Network Engineer/Manager is required to work on an Internet-based telematics project. Candidates must have experience designing, deploying and maintaining global IT infrastructure systems in support of Windows .NET based real-time applications, scalable database storage systems and wireless communications with mobile devices. Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and content switches/load balancers in a high availability redundant network infrastructure is required. Our environment is dynamic, collaborative and team-oriented. Candidates must possess a high degree of initiative, focus, flexibility, drive and self motivation. Excellent English communication skills are a requirement. The Network Engineering Manager will: • Manage and lead network and system engineers to implement and maintain a global IP Network. Personnel will be spread across global locations. • Develop and implement ITSM processes for management of service levels, change, capacity, availability, continuity, security, incidents, and problems related to the network infrastructure and service delivery and support. • Design, implement, test and support IP Network changes, data center interconnects, Frame Relay, DS3 and VPN links between wireless carriers and customers. • Optimize the performance and cost of the IP Network. • Manage relationships with wireless carriers and manage device certification and end-to-end network and application testing with the mobile devices. • Plan and carry out deployment projects for new carriers, data centers and unique customer implementations. • Provide 24x7 on-call support for production networks, on a rotational basis. • Collect and analyze network bandwidth and utilization data from a variety of sources to support product pricing, capacity planning, and other business decisions. • Manage and resolve complex problems involving interaction between server hardware, mobile device hardware, applications and IP networks by working with hardware developers, software developers, equipment vendors and customers. • Work with wired and wireless data network providers to debug and resolve customer affecting service issues. • Write and perform end-to-end system test procedures particularly related to testing the wireless device interaction with the IP network and failover between redundant network components. • Perform a variety of related duties and tasks as required. Education requirements: Univeristy degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or similar field. Cisco CCNA certification is desired; CCNP or CCIE certification is a plus. Experience requirements (years): 5+ Years IT Infrastructure Engineering Skill requirements: Globally distrbuted IT infrastructure in support of real-time Telematics applications. Scalable, fault tolerant, disaster recovery, integration with wireless carriers. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to solve complex problems. • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Wide Area Networks with VPN’s and dedicated circuits. • Experience using Wireshark or other network sniffers to debug routing problems. • Experience using, and a good understanding of routing and redundancy protocols including BGP, OSPF, HSRP, and EIGRP. • Experience using Cisco MARS and firewall IDS or IPS modules. • Experience with operational details GPRS and other wireless networks. • Ability to travel (US and internationally) for about 1 week every 3 or 4 months.
