Oracle 10G Database Administrator

An experienced Oracle 10G Database Administrator is required to work on a significant Internet-based telematics project. Candidates must have significant experience designing, implementing, deploying and managing scalable, fault tolerant and geographically distributed database systems, that can handle large scale real-time transaction processing and data warehouse functionality. Experience in the following areas would also be an advantage: Disaster recovery, Telematics, High real-time transaction volumes, web-based systems, working with Microsoft C# .NET based development teams. Excellent English communication skills are a requirement. The DBA will: Assist with the design of and review the database schema. Work with software engineers to develop and implement queries and stored procedures and tune queries to optimize performance. Design, write, implement and test procedures for backup, restore, and disaster recovery failover. Support database recovery in the event of data corruption or server and storage failures. Manage patches and updates to the database within a defined change management process. Provide day-to-day maintenance and support of development, QA, test, and production database environments. Production support requires a 24x7 weekly rotating on-call commitment to meet 99.9% availability service levels. Manage and track database server and storage utilization to identify and improve high utilization queries and to support capacity planning for server and storage infrastructure. Manage database configuration – schema, packages, and procedures – through the development, test, and release cycle. Perform other database related activities as needed. Education requirements: University degree in Computer Science or similar field, with up-to-date Oracle DBA qualifications. 10+ Years experience with the following Oracle technologies and products: Oracle Enterprise Linux, Oracle 10g Enterprise with Partitioning,  Data Guard, Oracle RAC and Clusterware,  RMAN, and Oracle Secure Backup Experience with Oracle 11g, Streams, and Oracle Real Application Testing would be desirable. Experience with Oracle databases on Linux and Windows servers. Flexibility to work off-hours to accommodate scheduled changes. Skill requirements: Excellent Oracle 10G DBA experience/skills.
