Oracle Apps DBA

We are looking for a top-notch Oracle Apps DBA for our direct client in the Providence, RI area, to support a global Oracle installation.  Our client is in the process of upgrading to Oracle 11.5.10.2 and is looking for someone who can handle a combination of production support and applications tuning.  A detailed job description follows. 

We can hire consultants on either W2 or corp-to-corp basis for this assignment.  If you are an H1 visa holder, and you apply directly to our company, we will happily work with your current employer to put you on assignment with our client.  We are not accepting phone calls or solicitations from third party recruiters or marketing representatives from third party employers.

Job Details:

Plans, coordinates and administers matters related to Oracle database(s), including base definition, structures, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. May direct the following: troubleshooting, recovery, tuning of the database, software installation and upgrades, resolving Oracle errors and failures, auditing activities, and resource utilization.

 

Support and monitoring of Oracle Applications 11i components. Planning and implementation of Oracle Application upgrades and enhancements. Involvement in continuous performance improvement of the Oracle Applications platform.

 

Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.  May be asked to act as Team Lead.

 

Primary Duties:Coordinate/implement database rollouts (including testing/certification)Daily maintenance of database infrastructure (checking nightly logs, etc.)Coordinate hardware maintenance/upgrades.Implement database server software maintenance and upgradesTroubleshoot database server and connectivity problemsOracle 11i Apps Patching and Upgrades – Patch managementTroubleshoot Oracle Applications 11i issues escalated through the Global HelpdeskMaintain/implement server/database/user security (access rights, permissions, etc.)Maintain databases as assigned (monitor disk utilization, restore versions, etc.)Coordinate development/implementation of new database applications with Developers, etc.Clone 11i Apps environments as required

 

Secondary Duties:Create/terminate user accountsProvide ongoing training to support teams, as necessaryMaintain/update all appropriate documentationConfer with System Administrators to ensure proper backup and restore procedures are in place.General system administration (Unix/NT)
