Intellon Corporation (Nasdaq: ITLN) designs and sells integrated circuits (ICs) for powerline communications, providing HomePlug® - compliant and other powerline ICs for home networking, networked entertainment, commercial and Smart Grid applications. PURPOSE:

 

The individual in this position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining Intellon’s technical leadership and driving Intellon’s business interest in global standards organizations such as IEEE and ITU, especially for any wire and powerline media networking technologies for in-home and access applications.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·  Participate in activities with standards bodies to present and promote adoption of Intellon’s technology.

·  Develop, coordinate and present technical contributions for standards groups, both domestically and internationally.

·  Participate in the advanced technology development for powerline network applications, with particular focus on the media access control (MAC) including the interface to the physical layer (PHY) and higher layers.

·  Frequent travel is required, both domestically and internationally.

·  Perform any other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Research and Development.

 

COMMUNICATION:

 

·  Daily contact with Intellon R&D and Engineering teams, standards members, consultants, managers, peers and subordinates is necessary in order to promote an open line of communication to perform the required functions of the position.

 

SKILLS NEEDED:

 

·  Expert level of training and experience in Media Access Control (MAC) layer

technologies including development, specification, modeling, simulation, testing and analysis of communication systems.  A thorough understanding of Home Networking MAC requirements is essential, and experience with the MAC layer specifications for 802.11, HomePlugAV, HomePNA, and/or MoCA is highly desired.

·  Must have in-depth understanding of standards development process

·  Must be able to draft concise and accurate technical contributions to standards

groups for incorporation into the working draft document.

·  Must be able to generate and present convincing presentations of data and technical

arguments to standards groups.

·  Must possess strong interpersonal, communications, negotiation, strategic positioning

and presentation skills necessary to generate support and acceptance of Intellon

contributions both one-on-one and to large groups.



EDUCATION:

 

·  MSEE or Ph.D. with expertise in wireless or wireline communication systems 

EXPERIENCE:

 

·  Minimum of five years of experience in wireless and/or wireline network communication systems.

·  Minimum of three years of experience actively participating in industry standards groups as the member’s primary or assistant representative to the group.

·  Prior experience with IEEE, ITU or other equivalent international standards organizations.

·  FCC regulatory and compliance experience desired.
