Process Development Engineer - Advanced Technology Group

We are Micro Systems Engineering, Inc. part of the worldwide BIOTRONIK group, a medical electronics manufacturer located near Portland, Oregon, in beautiful Pacific Northwest. We now have an opportunity in our Advanced Technology department for a Process Development Engineer.

 

The successful candidate will select, design and implement new electronics assembly and miniaturization processes for medical electronics.  These processes enable us to meet our quality, reliability, device volume, shipment and cost objectives.  The process development engineer will be a key player on the team developing next generation electronics modules used in cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators. 

 

The position requires a M.S. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics (or equivalent) and at least five years experience in electronics assembly operations and materials, (including pick/place, underfill,  PCB technology, wire bond, die attach and encapsulation technologies). Demonstrated experience using Six-Sigma or equivalent advanced problem solving methodologies and ability to conceive, implement and complete engineering projects and experiments on schedule and budget is required. Demonstrated ability to interface across multiple functions/organizations to drive closure on new process implementations and experience with 3-D CAD tools for mechanical design of custom tooling and equipment is also necessary. Experience with medical devices and medical regulatory requirements and exposure to ISO-9000 or ISO-13485 Quality systems is desired. Experience in process integration for custom modules, components and materials integration and experience with instrumentation/sensor automation for process monitoring is preferred.
