Product Development Program Manager

Job Responsibilities:
This position, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is accountable for leading one or more cross-functional teams to specify, design, develop, validate, and commercialize new products using the company's new product development processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and execution of activities required to meet program goals while maximizing return on investment within the program budget, performance, and schedule constraints.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Establish program plans, including projections of required resources (time, cost, personnel, facilities, and equipment)
- Negotiation with sponsors to develop common understanding of program expectations around performance, schedule, and budget constraints and perform schedule, cost, and critical activity tracking against the plan.
- Identification of critical technical and program issues, and then development, implementation, and follow up of necessary corrective actions
- Ensures the quality and integrity of products during the development cycle by compliance to the product development process
- Provides program interface between engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and other key product development functions critical to the success of the program as well as customer contacts, while maintaining an understanding of the value of the program under development for representative customers
- Work with functional managers to establish projections of resources and skills necessary to execute future programs as well as provide feedback regarding current functional performance
- Provide periodic reports of program status and progress to management.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be thoroughly familiar with aspects of engineering design, product development, and engineering / customer requirements
- Position requires thorough understanding of Program Management principles and tactics necessary to achieve primary business objectives
- Must be a results oriented individual capable of influencing others in a collaborative and sometimes virtual environment
- Demonstrated leadership skills are required and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
Qualifications Include:
- 4 year technical or business degree and minimum 5 years successful experience in a new product development environment
