Product Engineer - NAND Media

As a Product Engineer at Micron within the NAND MEDIA product group, you will evaluate next generation NAND FLASH memory storage devices from design to suitability for mass production. This role is critical to make Micron the most cost effective producer of NAND MEDIA products. Your primary area of responsibility will involve determining suitability of internal and third party controllers for various memory card and memory interface solutions. This will involve evaluation of performance and specifications of microcontrollers, ECC schemes and wear leveling algorithms, circuit debug (at wafer and package level), and device characterization for improved performance, operation, and testability as well as detailed analysis of FLASH transistor characteristics and their impact on product performance. NAND_MEDIA Product Engineers will enable the product choices and designs to meet key customer requirements for density, power, reliability, and performance.  Other areas of responsibility include electrical and physical failure analysis, implementation of new device qualifications, characterization development, and yield evaluation/improvement. You may modify and/or develop test programs and firmware microcode.  This role may present future opportunities for Product Leader or Group Leader positions.  Successful candidates for this position will have:  3 or more years of embedded system Engineering experience with an emphasis on memory card interfaces (preferred). The ability to drive engineering efforts through all aspects of new product development and system level debug. Some knowledge of VLSI design and layout techniques. A thorough understanding of memory circuit operations. Experience using the following tools: PC based benchmarking tools, logic analyzers, semiconductor parameter analyzers, NextTest test platforms, or other ATE (a plus).  Experience with various device evaluation platforms and other bench tools.  Good communication, leadership, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. Knowledge of third party sourcing including test (a plus). Memory card standards/specifications and/or uSB drive experience, Memory Stick, SD, MMC, or similar card specification understanding Microcontroller knowledge, 8051 or equivalent Controller evaluation and selection. The ability to work and maintain good relationships with world wide controller suppliers. Some knowledge of error detection/correction algorithms. Knowledge of various memory technologies including nonvolatile and DRAM with emphasis on NAND flash. Some understanding of microcontroller firmware.Education: Minimum of a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related discipline/experience. Join Us!
