Production Unit Manager

Summary:

With minimal direction the Production Unit Manager is responsible for developing, planning, guiding, and controlling the activities of materials, logistics and production staff in a production line. The job objective is to meet department deliverables and business performance expectations for budgets, business delivery methods, and staffing while developing solutions to a variety of complex problems that are consistent with organizational objectives.  Providing leadership to subordinates in achieving organizational business objectives and individual deliverables according to company policies and guidelines.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure production output requirements are met, meeting both volume and quality expectations.

· Ensure inventory levels meet expected build volumes, maximizing product turn times.

· Participates in and/or supports the development and execution of NSS strategies.

· Manages daily business activities and tasks in a global organization.

· Delegates and prioritizes the work of others.

· Applies mentoring and coaching skills to motivate and guide employee development and encourages employees to stretch and expand their capabilities.

· Sets and manages clear and attainable standards and goals for self and team.

· Builds collaborative relationships on multiple organizational levels, with managers, partners and peers from diverse backgrounds across functional lines.

· Drives continuous improvement programs across area of responsibility.

· Shares best practices with partners and peer groups.

· Thinks strategically and plans tactically.

· Is a champion of organizational values and objectives.

· In a leadership role, acts as a change agent, influencing others by anticipating change and stimulating development and implementation of (division) systems to improve capabilities and services.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Demonstrate subject matter expertise in resource and material planning, logistics, production, materials and supply chain management.

· Knowledge of storage subsystem products preferred.

· Demonstrate a successful record managing large-scale, project execution and meeting delivery schedules.

· Management experience in an IT environment is required.

· Experience meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; talks and acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.

· Experience working in change management environments.

· Understand the corporate business plan and his/her role in supporting it.

·  Prioritize multiple tasks, managing conflicting deadlines, and working effectively in a dynamic environment.

·  Exemplify effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

·  Intermediate level skill working with MS Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

·  Advocate point of view when appropriate.

·  Apply skills of persuasion and the ability to create consensus.

·  Formal meeting organization and facilitation skills.

·  Quickly learns and assimilates new business processes, ideas and concepts to formulate conclusions and deliver results.

·  Works with integrity.  Maintains credibility by meeting commitments.

·  Actively pursues opportunities for learning and self development.

 

Education & Experience:

·  Five years experience in operations management.

·  Post high school degree in business preferred.

 

Problem Solving and Decision Making:

·  Analysis-level analytical skills necessary to assess information and apply judgment in decision making.

·  Proven record of applying management-level judgment to mitigate business impact of technical decisions.

·  Understands span of control to escalate or delegate issues to appropriate levels.

 

Schedule Requirements:

·  Must appreciate the importance of managing in a 24*7 environment.

 

Physical Requirements:

·  Ability to communicate.

·  Ability to operate computer equipment.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

·  Recruit, manage, coach, and evaluate performance of nonexempt, and technical regular and contracted staff on-site.

 

Travel Requirements:

·  Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

·  Current passport and no history of declined visas, or entry refusal to any country.
