This position involves negotiating agreements & procuring material from "world class" suppliers capable of meeting the highest quality standards at the lowest total cost solution. The position will work with MEI Engineering and our suppliers on tooling/design projects using lean thinking principles and project management tools. This position interacts with many other functional departments within MEI in order to provide a trouble-free pipeline of materials to our internal and external customers.
Roles & Responsibilities Ensure the business has a competent supply base Develop material and services buying strategies Develop, communicate, and implement purchasing processes in accordance with broad MEI Principles, which are used by all associates and which cover the end-to-end buying process (including supplier sourcing, supplier selection, cost, service and contractual negotiations, order placement, supplier service management, supplier appraisal, and supplier termination) Build effective relationships across all departments to ensure early purchasing involvement in new buying activities and compliance with purchasing practices and tools Optimize the supplier base consistent with other MEI units to ensure value for money and improved service and to ensure this is the supply base used by associates Promote the continuous improvement in the use of buying tools and supplier performance Develop efficient purchasing tools for all associates Develop and provide expertise in drafting Purchasing Agreements and be a recognized internal expert in Purchasing law Develop and maintain close working relationships with other MEI sites
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Minimum of 7 years of direct purchasing experience required; minimum 5 year’s experience managing/leading others; practical experience in ISO-9000 or QS-9000 manufacturing environment
Desired Qualifications A mechanical or electrical engineering degree or injection molding experience would be a plus
