SILICON PHOTONICS ENGINEER

SHARP Laboratories of America Inc. is seeking a Silicon Photonics Engineer

 

The successful candidate in this position will provide support in the Material and Device Applications Department.

Responsibilities of the position include the following:

· Work on the realization of device structures and fabrication processes related to silicon based optical interconnect which includes incorporation of light sources, modulators, monitors, detectors, and other optical components.

· Contribute heavily to the development of the core technology.

· Work closely with other team members and collaboration partners to establish elemental process technology, device architectures and system implementations.

· Act as an expert in the field and able to push the state-of-the-art technology in this field.

· Strong hands-on approach in the laboratory and good theoretical understanding of the processes, device technologies, and fundamental principles of science and engineering.

· Prior experience with semiconductor technology, optical or photonic devices and integration technology is highly desired.

· Some domestic and international travel required.

 

Requirements of this position include:

·  Advanced degree in EE/Physics/ other related discipline (Ph.D. preferred).

·  2-5 years of experience with semiconductor device technology, optical device or photonics technology and optical device integration.

·  Particular emphasis will be placed on the individual’s background and expertise in integration of optical and electrical devices towards the realization of unique electro-optical systems.

·  Problem-solving skills and innovation/publication record.

·  Hands-on experience with:

·  Semiconductor device fabrication and characterization, troubleshooting.

·  Optical or photonic device fabrication and characterization (emitters, photodetectors, waveguides).

·  Optical device integration (i.e. on a Si chip platform) for the fabrication of electro-optical systems.

·  Electro-optical system design and analysis/characterization.

·  Excellent presentation and communication skills.
