Summary:  Full SDLC Project Leadership; Platform Architecture; R&D; Software Integration, New Product Apps Development. Technical product (Sensing, Instrumentation, Automation applications) software engineering development management / project leadership including re-architecting, DSP upgrade solutions, and wholly new product offerings featuring networked smart sensors, smart scanners, and front-end/HMI systems for industrial/commercial automation and controls applications.  Embedded systems, DSP, previous product launches especially useful.

* Are you a technical manager with software development expertise and a hands-on orientation?  Can you break out of the traditional departmental management mode and stage-manage software developers in re-architecting an already successful embedded systems platform?

 

* Are you well grounded in OOD/OOP, C++, and making coding leaner and yet extensible, utilizing objects to architect re-usable, more modular programs and applications?

 

* Are you experienced with the whole SDLC process and medium-sized project management, pulling the logistics together, managing schedules & priorities, and coordinating the elements ? Can you show where you have been through product design cycles with good execution, mastered the gate reviews; built the validation; and kept up the configuration current?

 

* Would you thrive in a rigorous environment centered around the software implications of instrumentation & measurement, remote data capture, Analog- Digital conversion; signal processing & conditioning, controls system & human-machine interfaces?

 

* Have you overseen embedded s/w development in a real manufacturing environment where the end product was hardware or integrated hardware/software systems for sale?

 

* Are you up to date with modern software development methods, tools, & techniques? Can you impart structure and methodology and coordinate development without stifling creativity?

 

* Do you know how to shepherd software engineers who are used to a high degree of independence and who will now be called upon to centralize their efforts and fit into a more structured software development paradigm?

 

* Can you manage inside and outside (contracted) development at the same time, working through the different development phases in order to get to the marketplace in a shorter timeframe?

 

* Do you want a high-visibility role where you'll be able to see your designs carry the company in new directions?  Would you like to take a lead role in analyzing the technology trends, resource needs, and market demand for the company's planned projects, helping to chart a course that leverages the company's strengths and building them up where needed? Are you accomplished at managing and directing software applications research, anticipating and proposing new product development as well as existing release upgrades?

 

* Are you looking for the opportunity to project the software engineering department's activities throughout the SDLC and streamline the company's product lifecycles and help introduce new products with custom mixes of processor architectures and interfaced technologies, (e.g., RISC and CISC, DSP, RTOSs, bus architectures, communication protocols and networking topologies?)

Can you persuade and help lead designated development team members through focused new product thrusts instead of politicking, pushing, and pressuring your way or regularly resorting to giving orders?
