SOURCING MANAGER
Primary Activities/Duties: Responsible for the coordination of all the Company’s purchases of raw materials, supplies, capital equipment and contract services to include coordination of scrap metal. Ensures a reliable source of materials, equipment and services while maintaining the optimum balance of quality, price and delivery. Negotiate favorable terms and conditions and contributes to profitability by ethical buying practices. Coordinate increase global sourcing activities and cooperate with Rittal’s worldwide sourcing departments. Responsible for supply chain optimization, maintaining the business systems and to maintain supply vs. inventory balance. Drive Continuous Improvement to achieve a ‘World Class’ sourcing and purchasing environment through support of Rittal Production System. Establish sound business relationships with suppliers that are mutually beneficial and promote a positive corporate image to vendors and the general public. Establish value and account analysis with suppliers. Select and approve all vendors in cooperation with the Quality department. Audit and assess all vendors in cooperation with the Quality department. Establish and maintain quality procedures, work instructions and other quality system documentation for sourcing and purchasing purposes. Ensure the proper training and qualifications for employees within the department and support/provide on-going training. Review the failures resulting from the use of purchased or outside processed materials. Periodically review all vendor contracts. Implement corrective actions to remove nonconformity in the Purchasing department. Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the workday. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders. Ability to travel to domestic and international customer locations.
Mental Requirements:
Work in a fast paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn and use new procedures and software. Ability to coach, develop and motivate employees, be detail oriented and be able to communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees, vendors and customers. Must be able to work when and where as needed.
Safety Requirements:
When in the factory, must wear safety glasses with side shields and safety-toed footwear hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required. When in a customer’s facility, must be able to comply with all personal protective equipment requirements of the customer.
Direction & Decision Making:
Complete directives given either verbally or written, make and assist in determining logical decisions.
Relationship:
Direct Contacts: Manager of Materials, Purchasing & Logistics, Purchasing & Sourcing personnel, Quality Department personnel, Engineers, Managers, Supervisors and internal and external vendors and customers
Indirect Contacts: Other Management, Staff and Hourly personnel
Knowledge & Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or other similar technical filed is preferred in addition to prior Sourcing or Purchasing Manager experience or hold the designation of Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing the sourcing or purchasing function. Experience with MS office products to include Word, Access, Excel and Power Point. Experience with MRP systems and SAP.
