Sales Support Engineer- Optical Transceivers

Job Description
Provide pre and post sales support for Menara’s product lines.  Sales support is performed at both Menara and customer site locations with a wide range of varying responsibilities.  Menara Networks seeks highly reliable and motivated personnel compatible with a fast-paced, venture funded start-up company.

Responsibilities Represent Menara as a product Subject Matter Expert for optical transceivers Support sales team for RFI/P/Q responses Accompany sales team on customer calls and visits for technical support Plan, execute and follow-up customer lab and field trails with test plan documentation creation, on-site test plan execution and follow-up action item registers Write and update product documentation for customer consumption Correspond with the customer during integration phases for applications support Coordinate customer activity with the PLM group for scheduling Provide assistance for in-house testing when required
Requirements Strong customer facing communication skills and ability to work in a customer environment Experience with high speed (10Gbps or higher) optical system support and development procedures Working knowledge of 10GE, SONET, SDH and G.709 networking fundamentals and operation Strong instrumentation skills.  Competency with instruments such as high speed BERTs, OSAs, OTN protocol analyzers and DCAs. Experience with 300-pin MSA, XENPAK and XFP transceivers Familiarity with 10GE L2/L3, MSPP and DWDM transport vendors and product operations Ability to travel 50% of the time, as required
Desirable Knowledge of the fundamentals of electro-optics, analog control loops, data multiplexing and processing, data clocking, PLL, microprocessor interfaces, power converters.  Ability to interpret schematics Familiarity with tier 1 telco and MSO customer network deployments and deployment approval organizations
Minimum Qualifications 5+ years experience in customer support and pre-sales activities BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
