We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, Senior Applications Developer to join our Worcester team.
NOTE: Oracle application software should not be confused with the Oracle database technology or the tools to support this technology. The application software is identified in the first bullet under the specialized requirements section. Candidates must have knowledge of both the applications (the functional side) and the database with their supporting tools (the technical side) to be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Uses professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Responsible for leading and/ or participating in the analysis, design, evaluation, testing and implementation of Oracle application software. · Capable of working at a high level and performing independent action relating to Oracle applications. Maintains a skill set in functional as well as technical areas that allow him to work with little or no supervision. Conducts studies of potential information technology applications for a manufacturing environment including off-shore manufacturing and logistic. May participate in application design proposals specifying resource requirements: personnel, time, money. Evaluates alternatives actions to satisfy existing and future needs of the company. Implements application solutions, including coding and/or detailed descriptions for programmers, system and user documentation and training. Maintains and enhances existing Oracle applications.
SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENTS: the candidate must possess experience in the following skill set at an advanced level. These skills were to be acquired over a four or more year period with full time devotion to their practice.
Knowledge, understanding and programming in Oracle version 11i applications software with a particular emphasis on certain core modules such as Financials (A/R, AP, General Ledger, Fixed Assets), Sales/ Marketing (Order Management, Shipping, Release Management) and Manufacturing (Inventory, Purchasing, OSFM and ASCP). These applications should not be confused with Oracle's database productions. The application software is a specialized skill set above and beyond the core Oracle database technical offerings. Functional understanding of the applications as stated above. This requires a familiarity with setups and process flows. Very familiar with Oracle’s application database structure for the modules noted above and the open interface tables relating to those modules. In performing a programming task, the candidate must know where to retrieve the sources of information from the various tables and views. The person should be able to construct complex queries with consideration to system performance and maximum efficiency. In addition, the candidate must know and apply the proper validation techniques for a particular application to ensure data integrity. Understanding and use of Oracle’s proprietary application object library in conjunction with Oracle version 10.7 and 11i applications. The candidate must be knowledgeable of the standard Oracle alert process. This person could be required to construct an application alert based on a user’s specification. The candidate must understand and know how to apply workflow. Within the application software the candidate must be experienced in applying the various Oracle technical products for conversion, interface and customization purposes:SQL*PLUS (very strong required) Oracle PL/SQL (very strong required) Oracle SQL*loader Oracle Developer Reports 6i (very strong required)
Education: BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent, related experience.
