TITLE:  Senior Commodity Buyer- 2 openings

 

JOB SUMMARY:   

 

Manage the sourcing, qualification, and development of existing and new suppliers initiating sourcing strategies, negotiation plans and conducting negotiations for assigned commodities. Initiate Supplier Qualification Process and Supplier Performance Reviews with support of Supplier Quality Engineers. Facilitate technical and commercial supplier commodity reviews. 



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

q Strategic and tactical sourcing experience in metal and plastic commodities. Finished machined, metal forming, forgings raw and finished machined, machined components, heat treatment and metal finishing, fasteners/ fixings, bearings, seals, shims, washers, etc.

q Issue RFQ’s for both existing and new business, evaluate suppliers, provide justification and recommend sourcing strategy.

q Strategically negotiate supply agreements and manage commodity buys assuring appropriate capacity, on-time delivery, high-quality product, and cost efficiency.

q Forecast future costs and market conditions affecting raw material availability.

q Negotiate tactical material supply adjustments for increases / decreases or mix changes in demand.

q Ensure that various cross functional areas such as manufacturing, engineering, and sales have an understanding of the overall market and cost situation, and that these factors are incorporated into their decisions.

q Translate specific objectives and associated strategies in to suitable materials (slide sets, presentations, etc.) for various communications with target audiences.

q Exceed the expectations of internal customers by facilitating prompt, professional responses to all requests.

 

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

q 5 - 7 years experience in manufacturing, contract manufacturing, or operations.

q Excellent planning, interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.

q  Strong ability to work with and influence at all levels of cross-functional teams.

q  Supplier qualification and supply chain metric experience (consignment,
inventory reduction, OTP improvement, etc)

q Knowledge of procurement practices, terms, negotiation concepts and business law.

q Financial and analytical skills.

q  Highly professional; organizational astuteness; strong leadership; visionary; highly analytical; building consensus.
