Commodity Manager - Northford

Our Fire Solutions Group in Northford, Connecticut has an immediate opening for a Commodity Manager to implement Supply Chain Management strategy to achieve lowest total costs, effective asset management, continuous quality improvement, delivery and cycle time performance improvement and early supplier involvement in product development..
This position will plan, organize, and control strategic activities surrounding the acquisition of materials and services that embodies major piece part and/or device commodities.
Major Responsibilities include:
Partnering closely with New Product Engineering, Product management, and Operations to develop product strategies for this business.
Work closely with the Security Global Commodity Management Teams and Product Management to identify viable and world class suppliers that can deliver customized supply solutions.
Develop supply partners for HLS, process definition, deployment, results and improvement, strategy development and implementation, commercial terms and conditions, and delivery of deflation savings to the operating plan.
Principal Accountabilities:Through the analysis of current spend, processes and practices, develop an overall sourcing strategy that supports the goals of the HLS business including new product introduction, supplier consolidation, process standardization, material cost reduction, transaction cost removal, and process digitization that meets the annual operating plan.Design and deploy processes that are consistent with the ACS identified strategies.Ensure appropriate sourcing measures and metrics are in place and deployed that measure progress against initiatives and develop necessary corrective action plans to include at a minimum.Effectively consolidate direct suppliers with identified strategic partners.Select and manage required suppliers who have the capacity and capability to meet the material and subcontract needs of the business.Utilize e-auctions for major spend opportunities.Participate/manage business acquisitions to facilitate synergy savings and common process implementation.Emerging Region sourcing goals achieved on assigned commodities100% of spend on contract/LTA with assigned supply baseDevelopment and implementation of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) covering selected commoditiesMaintains continuous in-depth knowledge of market conditions, industry trends, and developing technologiesEstablishes and manages key supplier performance goals and objectives; communicates periodic results to plan and manages top-level continuous improvement. Develops keen awareness of industry performance benchmarks.Establishes top-level plans providing foundation for improved factory flexibility and responsivenessManages sourcing decisions covering selected commoditiesManages and negotiates supply agreements in support of overall supply chain goals and objectivesPromotes and monitors early supplier involvement in key product developments, using the supplier’s expertise to optimize quality, delivery and manufacturability
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in Engineering or Business. Masters Degree a plus.
7+ years work experience in Operations, Finance, Engineering and/or Supply Management leadership experience.
Commodity Experience in Injection molding, stampings, electronics (semi conductors, passives), electro-mechanical (PCB’s, magnetics, terminal blocks, connectors), packaging and indirect commodities.
Other Qualifications:
CPIM and/or CPM certification preferred.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
