Senior Electrical Engineer - Relay & Protection

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Perform SCADA project engineering and specification development, work cooperatively with specifiers and end user of related equipment, such as protective relays, programmable logic controllers, data acquisition controllers, power equipment, revenue meters, SCADA systems, and distribution SCADA/automation equipment, and along with designers, field personnel, and material supply. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Analyze, evaluate, decide and complete the setting requirements, standards development and engineering designs needed for SCADA, automation and metering of electrical power system equipment on the transmission and interfacing distribution system. Determine the transmission system SCADA and revenue metering requirements for customer additions. Collaborate with T&D Planning, ESO, utility customers and his consultants to review electrical equipment SCADA and metering requirements. Develop engineering designs as required. Analyze and evaluate new SCADA architecture and formulate new SCADA Standards. Create and update P&CE procedures, application guidelines, specifications and schematic standards for protective relay, communication, control, automation, metering and digital fault recording systems. Participate in department planning, provide budget recommendations and monitor performance for the accomplishment of committed results. Provide training and/or guidance to others. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Minimum: 4-years in planning, design or testing of protective relay or SCADA systems. Bachelor of Science - EE or EET Demonstrated ability to build consensus through working collaboratively with others, communicate ideas and technical information to non-technical areas effectively. Have ability to utilize multiple software applications concurrently in performing SCADA configuration.
