SUMMARY
Designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment. Prepares test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new products. Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Interfaces with product development engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment technology and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Establish best process control methods and practices (Gauge R&R, PFMEA, DOE, SPC).Mentor peers and other organizations in process control best methods and practices.Generate control plans and define data collection policies.Evaluate and analyze process data using such programs as MS Excel, Access, JMP, and Lab View. Apply structured methods to drive continuous improvement of yield, process capability and quality.Develop or optimize sub-system testing to satisfy high system integration yield requirements.Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability, testability, quality, and reliability.Create and maintain test processes and instructions. Initiate Change Orders and generally support processes and activities related to change management.Work in collaboration with Supplier Engineers to establish capabilities in the supply base to manufacture complex subsystems which deliver high integration yieldsWorks on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments, and provides guidance to other personnel. The position may include managing direct reports. In this case the candidate would be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of a team of Manufacturing Engineers. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities could include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Create project plans with MS Project, and manage task completions on schedule.Experience leading cross functional teams in problem solving or process development efforts.Proven oral and written communication skills. Able to work with personnel from various organizations - Manufacturing, Engineering, Tech Development, Procurement, Human Resources and so forth.Ability to recommend (using data) and implement sound solutions and strategies in a fast paced environment where priorities change often.Able to create and maintain Bills-of-Materials.Adept at learning and applying new information or skills.Understands and has experience applying basic Lean Manufacturing principles in a low volume / high mix environment.Familiarity with the assembly and test of complex electro-opto-mechanical assemblies.Proficient in using LabView (National Instruments) to develop test automation and data collection.Capable of mapping system requirements into sub-system requirements.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBS degree in a technical field required, MS degree is desirable.Systems Engineering degree or experience desirable8+ years of experience is required, preferably in capital equipment manufacturing.Computer skills required; Expertise with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Use of statistical software for collection and analysis of data.Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt Desired).Structured Problem Solving Training (such as 8 Disciplines).

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
