SUMMARY

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will participate in the mechanical design and development required for a Humminbird marine consumer electronics product.  The responsibility level for this position requires being solely responsible and accountable for the design, documentation and qualification of custom mechanical parts and assemblies for a new Humminbird product from project start to manufacturing, with continued support after manufacturing begins. This includes establishing and meeting project schedule and costing objectives.

 

KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

The candidate will possess the following minimum knowledge and technical skill levels necessary to perform at the responsibility level required for this senior level position:Advanced knowledge of mechanical design principals and techniques.Advanced knowledge of plastic injection molded part design.Advanced knowledge of plastics, polymers, metals, etc. Advanced knowledge of mechanical assembly technologies (welding, adhesives, etc.)Advanced knowledge of Pro-E or other mechanical CAD design tools.Advanced experience with mechanical test equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum BSME degree with 7+ year’s professional experience specifically related to mechanical design, preferably including consumer electronics products. 

 OTHER RELATED SKILLS

The candidate must be a self-starting, motivated contributor in a team environment, capable of a high level of work output.  He/she must have excellent social and interpersonal skills, be able to take direction and guidance, and work well within the cooperative culture of the Humminbird Engineering group.
