Senior Opto-Mechanical QC Technician

 

We are currently looking for a Senior Opto-Mechanical QC Technician to work in Southeastern Chester County, PA.  This individual’s primary responsibility will be for mechanical inspections of vendor parts.   This is a full-time, permanent career opportunity.  Salary is commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions:

Ø  Work from production checklists, prints, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and other forms and documents.

Ø  Conduct incoming, in process and final visual, functional and dimensional inspection of a range of production optical / mechanical units, devices and parts.

Ø  Determine causes of failures and communicate conclusion to engineering and to vendor technical contact as appropriate.

Ø  Recommend solutions to engineering for manufacturing and assembly problems.

Ø  Review technical drawings prior to release, for completeness and QC Layer inclusion.

Ø  Participate in engineering discussions to contribute recommendations for improvements in future designs and current production methods.

Ø  Identify and analyze failed production assemblies and respond to unusual conditions identified during assembly operations. 

Ø  Diagnose extent of disassembly and repair required. 

Ø  Make routine repairs involving immediate or obvious modifications. 

Ø  Modify optical and opto-mechanical parts issued from stock room as required to update material to suit current engineering changes.

Ø  Initiate and recommend engineering change orders to correct discrepancies encountered in the production check list and submit for approval and implementation.

Ø  Determine acceptability of cosmetic issues on assemblies during production.

Ø  Train and advise others on technical issues relating to inspection and repair of optical and opto-mechanical subassemblies and assemblies. 

Ø  Work with research and development staff to design fixtures and identify potential problems with future designs. 

Ø  Communicate with vendors to resolve issues and make recommendations to Leadership and Engineering. Serving as a liaison between inspection, engineering and production.

 

Requirements:

Ø  5 - 7 yrs exp with complex mechanical inspections and troubleshooting is Required.

Ø  2 year Mechanical Engineering degree is Preferred.

Ø  Experience with ISO environments is Preferred.

Ø  Familiarity with micrometer, calipers, Federal gauge, digital measuring tools.

Ø  High degree of manual dexterity.

Ø  Ability to lift and move 60 lbs.

Ø  Computer literate, including Microsoft Office tools is preferred.

 

Typical Equipment Used:

Hand and hand power tools, multimeter, pin gauge, micrometer, caliper, torque wrench, digital measuring tools, mill, lathe, drill press, prescribed safety equipment, computer and common related peripherals.
