Senior Process Engineer - Underfill Technologies

 

Our San Jose manufacturing group is looking for an experienced senior Process Engineer to sustain and develop new techniques and procedures for our unique thin film flip chip products. The candidate will work closely with outside vendors to select and purchase equipment, develop processes in-house, and then transfer equipment and process know-how to High Volume Manufacturing.

 

The successful candidate will thrive on continuous process improvements and refinements, until the necessary stabilization and process windows are met for a confident transfer from pilot to volume production.  The candidate will lead and interact with a team of other Engineers and Technicians, in a fast paced highly interactive environment.

 

Duties include but not limited to:

 

· Taking ownership of, and drive to completion, projects related to developing, refining, and sustaining of underfill technologies for optoelectronic packaging and assembly.

· Develop/investigate better processes and new materials.

· Perform active searches and evaluations for epoxies, underfills, encapsulants, substrates, etc

· Define/refine methods to increase process repeatability and control to achieve higher yield, lower costs, better performance, improved flexibility, and/or lower variation.

· Conduct optical and electrical testing of optoelectronic devices.

· Work directly with Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, and R&D Scientists to ramp new products and processes into production, as well as manage project/product priorities.

 

 

Requirements:

 

· MS of PhD degree in Polymer, Physics, Materials, or Chemistry.

· Hands on experience in epoxy underfill and cure processes Familiarity with optoelectronic device packaging and fabrication.

· Knowledge of optoelectronic device fabrication and packaging processes.

· 5+ years in a high volume manufacturing semiconductor environment.

· Experience in SPC, DOE, FMEA

· Must possess good oral and written communications skills.
