Senior Product Development Engineer

The Senior Product Development Engineer is responsible for product qualification through design verification and reliability testing across a wide spectrum of product families.  The position interfaces heavily with the design and product management teams to determine qualification strategies and schedules, execute on these plans, and be an objective voice in the product development process. 

 

Specific tasks may include analyzing mechanical, electrical, optical designs, creating test plans, researching & developing new test methods, reliability and data analysis, statistical analysis and modeling, hardware and software troubleshooting, failure analysis, consulting with outside laboratories, writing reports, and involvement with critical customer issues.  The individual must know the fundamentals and be capable of understanding the design details of high speed transceivers, analog circuits, and active or passive optical components.  An excellent working knowledge of communication measurement equipment and measurement techniques is highly desired.  Very strong organizational and communication skills are essential.  Expertise in the above skills is desired, but we are seeking the right kind of individual, and not a specific skill set and number of years experience. 

 

A Masters or PhD in electrical engineering or related field is desired with demonstrated enthusiasm and skill for hands-on development work in optical components.  This individual will be required to work with cross-functional teams both in the US and China and to efficiently manage the execution of complicated projects.
