POSITION TITLE: Senior RF Technician

 

REPORTS TO:  TEST DEPARTMENT LEAD

 

POSITION SUMMARY : Provides senior level tuning and troubleshooting of radio frequency circuits operating in the microwave frequency band based on discrete and monolithic microwave integrated circuit technologies.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Performs dc biasing and stub tuning of single and multistage discrete and MMIC based modules.

 

· Troubleshoots low yield production batches to determine root cause analysis

 

· Interprets manufacturers component data sheets for electrical specifications

 

· Performs advanced resistance welding to attach tuning stubs, grounds and components where applicable.

 

· Inspects for and removes foreign matter in modules prior to shipment or at last possible stage prior to sealing.

 

· Completes all necessary data sheets, time records, defect data sheets, and engineering documents as required for processing and shipment of customer products.

 

· Initiates Engineering Change Requests ( ECR’s) to recommend component / circuit design changes to improve yield.

 

· Trains Technician 1 and 2 on basic and advanced tuning techniques.

 

· Tests and documents prototype performance for engineering.

 

· Performs other duties as directed.

 

Requirements:

 

Education :  Associates Degree or equivalent Military / Civilian work experience related to microwave module alignment or testing

 

Experience : 4+  Yrs experience in microwave module tuning and troubleshooting.

 

Skills: Ability to read and write English language. Able to function and interpret test equipment such as RF Power Meter, Microwave Network Analyzer, Noise Figure Meter, Oscilloscope, Digital Volt Meter,  DC Power Supply, Spectrum analyzer Frequency Counter. Able to interpret schematics.

 

Physical: Able to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to sit at workstation and perform tests and tuning under microscope for prolonged periods of time.
